More About Voices Of Freedom

A good singing group is like a good recipe...a blending of not only voices, but of personalities, ages, life experiences, and (always!) opinions!

Like any good recipe, the major element is the love of singing.  Our members have sung, or are currently singing, in other groups, church choirs, many play instruments, are directors, music arrangers, teachers, and a host of other music-related talents!  Our members are friends; we are family, we are brothers and sisters in Christ.

Voices of Freedom is unique because of WHAT we sing.  Eight-part a cappella is tricky, not always easy, but always fun!  Many members have been in the group for 10, 15, and even 20+ years.  This is a unique, but very welcoming group.  If you're looking for a musical challenge, love singing the "traditional songs" including patriotic and Americana music,  can read music and are not terrified of singing a cappella, this is the group for you!

Our director and fearless leader, Aileen Matheson, is talented, devoted, and has more energy and enthusiasm for this music group (and everything else!) than should be humanly possible! She keeps us on track and on pitch!

We rehearse Thursday nights at 7pm at Calvary Nondenominational Church, 707 East Beltline NE, Grand Rapids, in the choir room on the lower level.  Come check us out!
